Other Short-Stay Visa for Bulgaria

Documents Required

 Application Form & Photograph

• Fully completed visa application form in English, signed by the applicant.
• One recent passport-size colour photograph (as per consulate guidelines).
• For minors: Both parents/guardians must sign the form.

Passport

• Valid for at least three months beyond the planned departure from Bulgaria.
• Must have at least two blank pages and be issued within the last 10 years.
• Photocopies of the passport bio-data pages and any previous visas.

UK Residency

• Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Proof of Employment or Study (not older than 30 days)

• Employed: Recent signed employer letter on official letterhead, stating position, salary, and leave approval.
• Self-employed: Letter from accountant, banker, or solicitor, confirming business ownership or self-employment.
• Students: Official signed letter from a UK institution confirming enrolment and attendance.

Proof of Finance

• Bank statements for the last three months, showing financial stability.
• Minimum funds of €50 per day of stay (at least €500 for the full trip).

Travel Medical Insurance

• Coverage of at least €30,000 for medical expenses, repatriation, and emergencies.
• Must be valid for Bulgaria and all EU member states for the entire stay.

Proof of Accommodation

• Hotel or Airbnb booking (under the applicant’s name).
• If staying in private accommodation, a property deed or lease agreement is required.

Proof of Purpose of Travel

Medical Treatment

• Official document from a Bulgarian medical institution confirming the need for medical care.
• Proof of sufficient financial means to cover the medical treatment.
• Confirmation of prepaid medical treatment where applicable.

Cultural or Artistic Events

• Invitation letter from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria and/or the mayor of the respective municipality.

Sports Events

• Invitation letter from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Bulgaria, a sports federation, or an official sports club.

Student & Scientific Exchange Programs

• Invitation letter from a Bulgarian university, school, or other legal entity.
• Exchange agreement, academic program details, or official documents proving participation.

For Minors (Under 18 Years)

• Declaration of Consent signed by both parents.
• Copy of both parents’ passports.
• Birth certificate (original + certified translation).
• If one parent is absent, a power of attorney or custody order is required.

Additional Information

• Holders of service or diplomatic passports may be exempt from financial, accommodation, and travel proof.
• Upon arrival in Bulgaria, visitors must register their stay within 48 hours at the local police station if staying in private accommodation.

Photo Specifications

• Must be recent (within 6 months).
• Plain white or light background.
• Full face, neutral expression, no sunglasses or head coverings (unless for religious reasons).
• High-quality print on photographic paper.
• If the photo does not meet requirements, applicants may need to retake it at the visa centre.
